Sensei Mike Woodcock
3rd Dan
  • Began judo in September 1994 while completing his Honors Degree in Human Movement at Laurentian University
  • Mike’s passion for the sport was evident from the start and he learned quickly moving through the ranks of competition to eventually be graded within three years to Shodan – 1st Degree Black Belt in early 1998.  Graded to Nidan - 2nd degree Black Belt in 2003.  Graded to Sandan - 3rd Degree Black Belt May 2008.
  • Operated satellite clubs in New Liskerd, Chelmsford, and the local Sudbury YMCA.
  • National Coaching Certification Level I
  • Has a strong belief in that Judo and other martial arts can bring out the best in individuals through consistent training, effort and perseverance.
  • Mike has also trained in Kendo, Aikido and Goju-ryu Karate in his youth.
  • Currently President of Nickel Belt Budokan Judo Club

  • Paul has been training in Judo since November 1999.
  • Paul has been Sensei Ron Larwood's Teaching Assistant for the Laurentian Judo Course for a number of years
  • Paul also is an assistant instructor at the Howard Armstrong Recreation Facility
  • Paul's pride is his 2 year old niece who is a natural at Judo. In time we should have a brilliant judoka
  • Paul is our newest Black Belt - Graded to Shodan - 1st Degree Black Belt May 2008.
